The City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts is sponsoring their annual July 4th event. Join us for a fun-filled evening starting at 5 p.m with amazing entertainment and an incredible offshore fireworks display at 9 p.m. Don’t forget to mark your calendars and grab your friends and family to celebrate! Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect at the Hollywood Beach Theater:

The city’s priority is safety, so please don’t bring alcohol, backpacks, horns, or pets to the beach. Also, don’t bring things like fireworks, sparklers, glass or foam containers, single-use plastics, or barbecue grills, as they are not allowed on the beach. The police will confiscate these things if they find them.

NO TROLLEY SERVICE THIS YEAR. There will also be limited access to the barrier island, and no shuttle service. The police will be keeping an eye on how many people are at the beach and how many cars are parked, so that everyone can be safe. If the beach gets too full, they will send cars to a different place.

Public restrooms are located at the following locations:

  • Nebraska Street Parking Garage
    As well as on the boardwalk at the following Streets
  • Tyler
  • Fillmore
  • Johnson
  • Garfield
  • Taft
  • Missouri 

TRAFFIC, SHUTTLE, AND PARKING DETAILS

Please be aware that heavy traffic is expected, and as a result, the Hollywood Police may impose restrictions on beach access and traffic flow. It is important to note that parking options on the barrier island are limited. Parking at the City-operated parking garages on Hollywood Beach, specifically at Connecticut Street and Nebraska Street, will be available at a rate of $30 per space. This special event parking rate will be in effect from 7 AM to 9 PM. During this time, parking is valid for 24 hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking rates at the two City-operated parking garages in downtown Hollywood will remain unchanged.

SUN SHUTTLE

The Sun Shuttle, operated by Circuit, is an environmentally-friendly electric public transportation service. It provides convenient transportation between City Hall Circle, downtown Hollywood, Hollywood Beach, and along Federal Highway. For riders who request a ride through the app, the fare is $2.00 per trip. However, riders who flag down the shuttle can ride for free. Flag down riders can join the driver’s existing route for the paid app-requested ride. The Sun Shuttle will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 4th. To utilize this service, please download the free “Ride Circuit” app from the App Store or Google Play.

RIDE SHARE

For Uber and Lyft users, the designated pick-up and drop-off spot is located on Tyler Street between A1A and Surf Road.

A1A – OCEAN DRIVE

From 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Hollywood Police Department will restrict vehicular traffic on A1A, allowing only northbound travel between Hollywood Boulevard and Sheridan Street. Northbound traffic will exit at Sheridan Street and Dania Beach Boulevard. Broward County Transit will also operate in the northbound direction during this period. From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., A1A between Hollywood Boulevard and Sheridan Street will be closed to all incoming traffic.

HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD

From 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., no westbound traffic will be allowed to exit from A1A to Hollywood Boulevard. Instead, vehicles will be detoured north to Sheridan Street. From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., all eastbound traffic on Hollywood Boulevard exiting to A1A will be directed southbound only.

SHERIDAN STREET

Starting at 11:00 a.m., access to the barrier island via Sheridan Street will be closed. All eastbound traffic on Sheridan Street will be directed either north or south onto 14th Avenue. Vehicles will not be permitted to proceed east of 14th Avenue.

HALLANDALE BEACH BOULEVARD

Between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., all northbound traffic on A1A will be U-Turned at Jackson Street and directed south to Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

PARKING INFORMATION

For the special event, the City offers parking at the following locations:

  • Garfield Parking Garage: Located at 300 Connecticut Street and A1A
  • Nebraska Street Garage: Located at 327 Nebraska Street

The special event flat rate for parking at these garages is $30. However, standard parking rates apply at City-operated parking garages in downtown Hollywood, namely the Radius Parking Garage at 250 N 19th Avenue and the Van Buren Parking Garage at 251 S 20th Avenue.

Parking is also available at various locations on Hollywood Beach, including:

  • Hollywood Beach Garage: Situated at A1A and Hollywood Boulevard
  • North Beach Park: Located at Sheridan Street and A1A (must enter before sundown)
  • Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort: Found at A1A and Johnson Street
  • Keating Park: Situated at 2400 S. Ocean Drive/301 Magnolia Terrace
  • The Dunewalk/Summit Lot: Located at 1200 S. Ocean Drive
  • The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood: Found at 3555 S. Ocean Drive

INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY BRIDGES

Throughout the day and early evening, the Intracoastal Waterway bridges will operate on their regular schedules. However, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, the bridges at Dania Beach Boulevard, Sheridan Street, and Hollywood Boulevard will remain lowered to facilitate the movement of vehicular traffic entering and exiting the beach.

INFORMATION FOR A SAFE AND HAZARD-FREE HOLIDAY

To ensure a safe environment, the following items are prohibited and may be confiscated: alcoholic beverages, fireworks (including sparklers), glass, single-use plastic and foam items, coolers larger than 36″ long, and barbecue grills. Picnicking is allowed only on the sandy beach between Sherman and Custer streets, as well as within Charnow Park at Garfield Street, Keating Park at Magnolia Terrace, and Harry Berry Park at Azalea Terrace. Connecting canopies or canopies larger than 10′ x 10′ are not permitted.

Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable items and clean up after themselves to help maintain the beauty of Hollywood Beach. Single-use plastics and Styrofoam products are not allowed at City facilities and properties. Please avoid overfilling trash receptacles.

During this prime nesting season for several protected species of sea turtles, it is important to be mindful of their nesting habits. If you plan to watch the fireworks from the beach, please be aware that the light sources, including flashlights, can impact sea turtle nests. If you encounter a sea turtle or a sea turtle nest, do not disturb it. Interfering with a sea turtle nest knowingly can result in civil or criminal penalties and fines.

Boaters are advised to travel at safe speeds and watch out for threatened or endangered species such as manatees and sea turtles. Any collisions or injuries involving these protected species must be reported to the Sea Turtle Emergency Line (24 hours) at 954.328.0580 and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at 1.888.404.FWCC. Spectator boats are prohibited from anchoring on or above sea grass, hard bottom, or coral reef structures. Violating this condition, as stipulated by the event permit from the U.S. Coast Guard, may lead to fines or criminal penalties. Boaters must also maintain a distance of at least 1,400 feet from the fireworks barge. The Hollywood Police Department Marine Unit will be present to ensure compliance with these regulations.
