According to Hollywood District 1 Commissioner Caroly Shuham, the Beach renourishment project which started in Dania Beach and was working south towards Hollywood is currently on hold during turtle nesting season.
The Army Corp stopped the Beach Renourishment work on April 30, 2023, for turtle season. They started this job just south of Port Everglades in Dania Beach. They finished the state park area and approximately 100’ south of the state park (near The Renaissance).
The Army Corp will resume the project again on November 1,2023 and will start at The Meade Street access point and work their way North to where they left off this year (100’south of State Park).
After that , The Army Corp will use the access at South City Beach Park in Hallandale and then work their way North to Iris Street.
The Army Corp will then assess any other areas that may need renourishment and work on those if needed.
The tentative schedule has all the work above completed by April 30,2024, the beginning of Turtle Season.
